History

Founded in 1712, Middleburgh Village is situated in Schoharie Valley, in the County of Schoharie, New York, located approximately 50 minutes west of Albany and east of Cooperstown.

Historically known as "The Breadbasket of the Revolution", Schoharie Valley is home to Vroman's Nose a prominent geological feature which overlooks Middleburgh. It is among the more popular hiking sites in upstate New York and is of significant historical note. While you're here, take time for a short hike up to the top of the Nose where you will have an impressive vista of the entire valley. Nearby Max V Shaul and Mine Kill State Parks offer additional hiking opportunities.

Home to various musicians, writers and visual artists, the Village and County, offers a variety of shops, restaurants, and seasonal events in all areas of the arts. Beginning in May and ending in August, the Middleburgh 4th Friday Street Festival is held along Main Street with a variety of street vendors, music performances and events.
The Annual Middleburgh Timothy Murphy Fall Festival happens every October with Main Street filled with various artisan vendors and other fun-filled activities throughout the day.

Your many stops along Main Street should include a visit to The Conglomerate that carries a large selection of specialty clothing, gifts, and foods for any occasion; Middleburgh Mercantile for locally made gifts and specialty goods; and the Green Wolf Brewing Company & Public House that offers 100% New York sourced beer and other locally made beer, wine, hard cider, and spirits with musical performers on weekends.
